A woman in Kuantan had a shock of her life after she saw the owner of a car workshop where her husband worked at had hung himself in an apparent suicide.
China Press reported that the victim was 62-year-old Liang Manfu (transliteration), whose body was discovered at around 9am today.
62yo M’sian man found hanging inside workshop
Speaking to Sin Chew Daily about the tragedy, Liang’s youngest son said his father woke up at 7am and left the house at 8am as usual to open the workshop which he had operated for 26 years.
“After waking up, he would usually take a shower before leaving the house. But today was different as he didn’t shower and left after changing his clothes,” he said
Liang’s body was later found by one of his worker’s wife who would come early to help her husband prepare for work and wait for his arrival before leaving for her workplace.
Was emotionally distressed during CNY
Liang’s son said at the start of CNY, his father looked unhappy and was unusually quiet. However, when asked whether he was okay by concerned relatives, he refused to disclose further.
“My father had no history of health or emotional problems and aside from appearing melancholic, he got along well with family members during CNY and even had tea with a friend yesterday afternoon.
“As to why he would choose to end his life, we have no idea until now,” he said.
Was described to be a good boss
A worker told Sin Chew Daily that Liang was a kind, hardworking person who treated everyone equally.
“When we resumed work on the 6th day of CNY, he gave each one of us an angpao and we didn’t notice anything amiss as he displayed no signs of odd behavior.
“The only thing we noticed was that he looked downcast before CNY but we assumed it was because he was tired due to work,” he said.
