[UPDATED] 60yo M’sian Woman Allegedly Jumps Off Penang Bridge, Rescued By Fishermen 7 Hours Later

She was found by fishermen 7 hours later.
In a world full of challenges and obstacles, there are those who resort to ending their lives prematurely due to their inability to tolerate the crushing burden of whatever problems they’re facing.

In yet another case of alleged suicide, a woman reportedly leaped off the Penang Bridge early this morning and the authorities are rushing against time to locate her.

60yo M’sian woman allegedly jumps off Penang Bridge

According to China Press, the victim was a 60-year-old woman who allegedly leaped off the Penang Bridge this morning.

According to CCTV footage, it showed the woman dressed in a black t-shirt and white shorts sitting on the bridge’s railing and gazing into the sea at around 2.47am.

The State Fire and Rescue Department later released a statement saying that the 60-year-old woman fell into the sea at the 4.40-kilometer mark along the bridge heading from Butterworth to Penang Island.

They added that they received a report of the incident at 3.16am and immediately dispatched a group of rescue personnel to save the woman. When they reached the scene, they found her Proton Persona parked along the bridge as well as her personal documents inside the car.

Rescued 7 hours later

Thankfully, the woman was successfully located by some fishermen at around 10am and brought to shore after she floated in the sea for around seven hours.

This is the latest case of a suicide attempt taking place at the Penang Bridge, with the most recent being a 15-year-old girl who booked a e-hailing ride to the scene and jumped into the sea.
