Parents are often advised to keep an eye on their children as they are prone to land themselves in danger when they’re left to their own devices with no adult supervision.
A couple was left grappling with the death of their 4-year-old child after she fell from the 11th floor of a police quarters in USJ 8, Subang Jaya on Friday (Apr 28), reported Harian Metro.
Fell from 11th floor of police quarters
According to Subang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat, the incident occurred at 11.35am when the child was playing with her sibling in the living room and her mother was in the kitchen.
The victim’s mother told police that she suddenly heard the loud noise of the middle room’s door closed and tried to open it but was unable to as it was locked from the inside.
“She said she also heard her child’s cries for help before she went to the next room and looked out of the window,” he said.
To her shock, she saw that her daughter had fallen out from the window and landed on the ground below.
Died at the scene
Wan Azlan said that investigations found that the victim had fallen from the 11th floor and was declared dead by medical officers from the Petaling District Health Office who were present at the scene.
He added that the incident has been classified as sudden death and that no criminal elements were found.
The victim’s body was later sent to the Serdang Hospital for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death before it was handed over to family members.
Our condolences to the family for their loss and we hope this will serve as a reminder to parents to always monitor their children’s movements!
