According to the charge sheet, 44-year-old Nina Norhaslinda Mazlan allegedly threw the cat from the first floor of Flat Sri Sabah at 7.35am on Dec 25, 2023.

The charge was framed under Section 29(1)(e) of the Animal Welfare Act 2015, where the court was told Nina’s actions had caused unnecessary suffering to the animal.

Claimed trial to charge
Nina, who appeared in court unrepresented, pleaded not guilty and requested the court to lower the bail amount, saying that she was a housewife and had no source of income.
Earlier, Kuala Lumpur Veterinary Services Department prosecuting officer Fadzilah Abdul Karim asked the court to set bail at RM15,000 with one surety.

She also requested that additional conditions be imposed on Nina, which included surrendering her passport and reporting to the nearest police station once a month.
Judge Norina Zainol Abidin set bail at RM10,000 with one surety and did not grant the additional conditions as requested by the prosecution. Feb 6 has been set for case mention.
