A three-year-old girl in Melaka was left in a semi-conscious state after reportedly testing positive for cannabis, leading to the arrest of a 39-year-old social media influencer.
Child found semi-conscious
According to Harian Metro, Melaka police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the incident came to light on Apr 14 when a medical officer at Hospital Melaka received the child at around 5pm.

She was reportedly in a semi-conscious condition, and further tests revealed that her urine sample was positive for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive compound found in cannabis.
The child’s mother later informed doctors that she had picked her daughter up from a babysitter’s home in Sungai Putat.
Prior to the hospital visit, the girl had already been admitted on Apr 11, where she needed respiratory assistance via a tube at the Emergency and Trauma Department’s red zone.
Influencer detained, remand extended
Following investigations, police arrested a 39-year-old man, believed to be the babysitter’s son, at around 9.30pm on Apr 15.

The suspect, who is also a social media influencer, was initially remanded for seven days starting Apr 16. His remand has since been extended for another five days until Apr 27 to assist with investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.
Police checks found that the suspect has no previous criminal record, and his urine test returned negative for drugs.
Meanwhile, the young girl has since recovered and has been discharged from the hospital. Investigations are still ongoing to determine how the child was exposed to the substance.
