Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, the operator of Malaysia’s public transportation network, recently faced a severe ransomware attack that has reportedly led to the theft of 316GB of sensitive data.
This incident was first highlighted by cybersecurity firms FalconFeeds and ThreatMon Advanced Ransomware Monitoring, according to Scoop.
In response to the incident, Prasarana issued a media statement confirming that their cybersecurity team had detected and is actively managing the breach.
They are working closely with cybersecurity experts to investigate the extent of the unauthorized access and to implement mitigation strategies to prevent further damage.
The company emphasized that the safety and reliability of their public transport services remain their top priority and reassured the public that daily operations have not been affected by the breach.
Additionally, Prasarana is collaborating with the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) and CyberSecurity Malaysia to ensure all necessary steps are taken to safeguard their systems.
