As such, an order for him to pay RM30,000 in compensation was issued by Alor Setar High Court judge Mahazan Mat Taib after he approved the woman’s 28-year-old husband’s response petition.

The court views the dishonest behavior with seriousness because it has affected the family life. An amount of RM30,000 in compensation must be paid to the respondent (the husband) as a lesson to the general public,” he said.

In return, the husband filed a response petition, where he named the 26-year-old man as a party and accused him of having an affair with his wife.

“After the response petition was submitted, the man and my client’s wife left the country and have not returned to this day. They have also not responded to the response petition.

“We have also submitted several pieces of evidence to the court, including photos from the social media accounts of the man’s family members,” he said.

According to Malaysia’s civil marriage laws, the court reserves the discretion to compel those guilty of committing adultery to pay compensation to serve as a lesson to the public.
