Tragedy often strikes when one’s not aware and it can take place anytime, anywhere when one least expects it.
A young woman recently plunged multiple floors down from a hotel in Penang while hanging out with another friend yesterday (May 22). Sadly, she did not survive the incident.
24yo M’sian student dies after falling from 21st floor
According to MalaysiaGazette, the victim was a 24-year-old local student who was pursuing her studies at a private higher education institution (IPTS) in KL.
After checking into a hotel located at Tanjong Bungah, Penang, with a male friend also aged 24, the victim later fell off from the 21st floor of the hotel.
Her body was eventually found lying in a pool of blood by a member of the public at 3:35pm and the authorities were immediately alerted.
As for the victim’s male friend, he wasn’t aware that something terrible had happened to her until he saw crowd gathering at the ground floor and went to the scene to confirm her identity.
When contacted by MalaysiaGazette, Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Razlam Ab Hamid said preliminary investigations didn’t find any criminal elements in the case.
“The case has been classified as a sudden death (SDR) and an autopsy is being conducted on the victim at the Penang Hospital.
“The public is urged not to make speculations in order to respect the sensitivity of the victim’s family,” he said.
