An anonymous netizen recently poured her heart out in a confession which detailed how her domineering and overly protective mother was ruining her social life and mental health by keeping her inside the house almost every single day.

In the anonymous confession shared on the X page SecretsMY, the OP shared a glimpse of her mother’s iron grip over her life.
I’m a 21-year-old girl. I’ve actually been living like this for years but recently when I started my degree life, she (my mum) decided to cage me inside the house more than before.
“It’s been exactly two and a half months that I haven’t been able to step out from the house. I’m not even allowed to open the front gate,” she wrote.
To make matters worse, the OP claimed that her mum forbade her from going to campus to study for her online degree and is forced to work as her personal bank assistant.
‘It’s driving me crazy!’
Due to her ‘house arrest’, the OP said she suffered a drop in her grades and struggled with depression as a result, something which was “driving (her) crazy”.
I can’t go out for a jog. I can’t have friends over too. I can’t go out from the neighbourhood cause it’s a guarded area with CCTV around.
“Since then, my life is entirely spent in my room. But even so, I get scolded by my mum because I spend too much time in my room,” she lamented.
Netizens advise OP to run
In the comment section, netizens were concerned that the OP was being imprisoned at home against her will and urged her to either run away or lodge a police report.
Another cheekily asked whether OP had “long hair that glows sometimes” and whether her mum “likes to brush them” and posted a scene from the Disney animated film ‘Tangled’.
For those who don’t get the reference, ‘Tangled’ tells the story of Rapunzel, who was kidnapped when she was a baby and imprisoned by Mother Gothel for her hair that allows the latter to regain her youth.
