A foul stench led bystanders to a shocking discovery when they found out that it was due to a pair of human bodies rotting away inside the vehicle.
According to Sin Chew Daily, the harrowing discovery was made at the Vista Valley 3 commercial area in Semenyih yesterday afternoon (Aug 25).
As for the car, it was said to have been parked at the same location for the past one week.
The Chinese daily also reported that a supermarket employee spotted bloodstains underneath the car at around 3.30pm. When he looked through the window, he saw two severely decomposed bodies inside.
Police and medical personnel later showed up at the scene after receiving a report about the incident and cordoned off the area to prevent outsiders from trespassing or taking photos.
A large crowd of curious onlookers also gathered near the scene while the authorities worked to gather evidence.
Cause of death not known
When approached by reporters, the daughter of one of the victims said her mother and stepfather operated a burger stall nearby.
She added that her mother and the other victim, a man, were believed to be friends, reported China Press.
Some members of the public at the scene claimed that the victims may have died from carbon monoxide poisoning, but this has yet to be verified by police.
After the forensic team conducted investigations at the scene, the victims’ bodies were removed at around 7.35pm, while the car was towed away at 8pm.
Police have yet to issue a statement regarding the victims’ identities, time and cause of death, and whether any criminal elements were involved.
