2 Men Caught Smuggling 4,320 Litres Of Subsidised Diesel With Truck On Federal Highway

The attempted smuggling of subsidised diesel by two truck drivers was foiled at a petrol station on the Federal Highway earlier today, around 2.00 am.

During this operation, authorities apprehended two 45-year-old men and seized 4,320 litres of diesel, valued at RM9,288.

This successful intervention was orchestrated by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN).

Mohd. Khairi Jamaludin, KPDN Selangor’s Chief Enforcement Officer, revealed the team’s swift response upon noticing a truck and a container trailer engaged in suspicious diesel-filling activities.

These vehicles were suspected of being used for illegal diesel smuggling.

Further investigation unveiled modifications to the heavy machinery, including the installation of an Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) for storing petrol and diesel.

Khairi reported the seizure of both trucks, which contained 10 and eight IBC tanks each, totalling 4,320 litres of diesel.

Additionally, equipment such as rubber hoses and suction pumps, utilized for fuel transfer, were confiscated.

The total estimated value of all seized items, including the trucks and trailer, is RM113,498.

Authorities are investigating the case under Regulation 3(1) of the Supply Control Regulations (PPKB) of the Supply Control Act 1961.
