147 partygoers slapped with RM750,000 fine for breaching SOPs at JB entertainment centre

Party hard, get fined harder.

JOHOR BAHRU – Police issued compounds amounting to RM750,000 against 147 individuals who were caught breaking the SOPs of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) at an entertainment centre in Taman Ekoflora.

Johor Bahru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said that the detainees comprised of 95 men, 51 women, and one foreigner.

“A check on the foreign woman’s documents revealed that she was married to a local man and had valid identification documents,” he said in a statement.

Each customer slapped with RM5,000 fine

Raub Selamat added that the entertainment centre had operated without a license and violated SOPs under Phase 4 of the NRP.

It was handed a hefty RM25,000 fine while the customers were compounded RM5,000 each under Section 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases.

Three business receipts, a microphone, a brand sound mixer and a professional power amplifier were also seized during police inspection.

“We urge those with information relating to criminal activities to contact the South Johor Bahru hotline at 07-2182 323 or go to the nearest police station,” he said.
