If pickleball has somehow taken over your friend group lately, here’s another reason to keep that paddle close.
Paramount Cup is coming back for its second round this October, and judging by what was announced at its launch on Aug 18, things are getting quite a bit bigger this year.
WeirdKaya was at the launch, where Paramount Property revealed that more than 900 players are expected to compete, with over RM110,000 in prize money up for grabs.
The tournament will run from Oct 22 to 25 at PLAYA Racquet Club @ PARC Subang.
And whether you’re the friend who plays pickleball every weekend or the one who only comes along for the vibes, there’s quite a bit happening.
More than 900 players. Yes, really.
This isn’t exactly a small weekend pickleball session.
Paramount Cup 2026 is expecting over 900 participants, with competitions covering singles, doubles, mixed doubles and team formats across different age groups and skill levels.
Basically, there’s room for everyone from newer players looking to test themselves to the more serious ones eyeing the podium.
And this year, younger players are getting a lot more space on the court too.
There will be eight new junior categories, including U10, U12 and U14 Co-ed Singles and Doubles, plus U16 Boys Singles and Doubles.
So yes, the kids might actually have a more competitive pickleball calendar than some of us.
Play well enough and you could go beyond Malaysia
Here’s where things get a little more serious.
Paramount Cup 2026 will also be recognised as an APP Asia qualifying stop, following PLAYA Racquet Club’s collaboration with the Association of Pickleball Professionals.
What does that mean for players?
Perform well here and you’re not only playing for the medals and prize money. You could also earn a shot at qualifying for the APP’s wider tour and take your game to an international stage.
PLAYA Racquet Club Director Brian Choo called it a “huge moment for Malaysian pickleball”, saying the collaboration gives local players a real pathway to compete internationally.
Suddenly that casual after-work pickleball session feels a little more serious, huh?
Your registration also does some good
There’s also a charitable side to this year’s tournament.
For every player who registers, PLAYA Racquet Club will donate RM5 from the registration fee to Shelter Home for Children, while Paramount Property will match the amount ringgit for ringgit.
So every entry into the tournament also contributes to a good cause.
Paramount Corporation Berhad Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer Beh Chun Chong said the initiative reflects the company’s aim of bringing people together through sport while creating a positive impact within the community.
And no, you don’t have to play to enjoy it
Not holding a paddle? You can still come.
A three-day bazaar will also be happening during the tournament, with food, activities and family-friendly fun lined up for visitors.
PLAYA Racquet Club @ PARC Subang itself comes with nine indoor courts and 14 outdoor and covered courts, alongside dining, retail and other facilities, so there’s plenty happening beyond the matches too.
At the Aug 18 launch, guests already got a small preview of the energy to come.
After a balloon pop ceremony, representatives from Paramount Property and PLAYA jumped onto the court for a showcase match, getting the crowd into the mood ahead of the actual tournament in October.

Adult team categories cost RM360 per team, while Open Singles is RM200. For junior players, Singles costs RM150, while Doubles is RM300.
