The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, paid a two-day visit to the Kampung Tekek jetty on Pulau Tioman today to see work on improving one of the resort island’s entry ports.
His Majesty was seen riding a motorcycle around Kampung Tekek to greet the residents of the village.
This visit, which took place yesterday 19 February 2023, allowed the King to connect with the local community in a personal way.
Accompanying His Majesty on this visit were YAM Tengku Arif Bendahara Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri’ayatuddin Shah and YAM Tengku Panglima Raja Tengku Amir Nasser Ibrahim Shah.
King’s down-to-earth approach to the people
The royal entourage started the day by completing the inauguration ceremony of the Maternity Center and Tekek Health Clinic. This was followed by a luncheon with the people of Pulau Tioman.
During the afternoon, the King took the opportunity to ride his motorcycle around the village, stopping at a local stall to enjoy some afternoon tea and mingle with the visitors at the stall.
