Woman who allegedly trespassed LRT railway killed by oncoming train

KUALA LUMPUR – A woman allegedly climbed onto the LRT railway and sat right in the middle of it before getting knocked off by an oncoming train.

RapidKL confirmed the incident on their Facebook page and said that it occurred at approximately 4.45pm today.

The woman, who remains unidentified, did not survive the incident.

Personnel from the Sentul Fire and Rescue Department, Ministry of Health (MOH), Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL), and Land Public Transport Agency (LPTA) are currently at the scene gathering evidence.

We are deeply saddened by this incident and would like to apologise to our passengers for the service disruption.

For the safety of all involved, the LRT Sentul Timur Station and LRT PWTC Station will remain closed until further notice,” said RapidKL in a press statment.

RapidKL also reminded the public to stop sharing photos of the incident on social media and to avoid speculating over the woman’s motive in trespassing.

Complimentary shuttle bus rides will also be provided every thirty minutes to the Sentul Timur LRT Station and vice versa.

“Rapid KL will give full cooperation to the authorities to ensure a thorough investigation is carried out. We are also embarking on a comprehensive audit of our stations’ safety and security measures in order to minimise risks of such incidents in the future.”
