A video showing a woman lifting her clothes and posing nude in front of a Maybank signboard in Kota Kinabalu has gone viral, circulating on WhatsApp.
Originally believed to be posted on a Chinese social media platform, the 10-second clip has caught the attention of local authorities.
Kota Kinabalu police chief Kasim Muda stated that they are investigating the case and will seek help from the Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to track down the person responsible for posting the video, according to Malay Mail.
The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code, which deals with obscene acts and could result in up to five years in prison, a fine, or both.
The Maybank signboard on Jalan Gaya became a hotspot for photos after Chinese tourists popularized it on social media.
It later attracted attention from local influencers and businesses.
Some speculate that the woman in the video may be a tourist due to a watermark in the clip.
If proven, she could face action, including being banned from entering or leaving Malaysia.
