A mother in China says her daughter came back from studying in Malaysia as a completely different person and not in the way she expected.
How so? Here are some of the things she observed ever since her daughter’s return.
From fashion girl to slippers
Before leaving, her daughter was a self-proclaimed fashionista. She loved shopping, mixing and matching outfits, and changing shoes every week.
Hanging out with friends to café-hop and take photos was part of her routine.
But after returning from Malaysia? Her go-to look is shorts, a T-shirt, and slippers. Her only “fashion accessory” now is a plush toy hanging from her tote bag.
Chose mamak food over fine dining
The woman said her daughter used to prefer fine dining and trendy restaurants. But now, she raves about mamak food, RM10 mixed rice, and even durian buffets.
“Back home, she never cared about taxi fares or the weather. But after living in Malaysia, whenever it rains, the first thing she says is: ‘Oh no, fares will go up. Better compare before booking.'”
Even her way of speaking has changed. In the middle of a conversation in her local dialect, she will suddenly throw in Malaysian slangs like “liao” and “don’t know lah.”
The mother also shared that her daughter often wakes up in the middle of the night stressing over university work.
‘Not the same girl anymore’
The mother ended her post by saying she was shocked at how much her daughter had transformed after just studying in Malaysia.
She even asked online: “Can someone please teach me how to fix this?”
