An unusual scene outside KLCC recently caught the attention of passersby after a woman believed to be from China was seen holding her passport high in the air.
According to a bystander who shared a detailed timeline on Threads, the woman was first spotted at around 6 pm near a traffic light in front of KLCC on Thursday (16 July).

According to photos circulated on XiaoHongShu, the woman was seen holding up a Chinese passport high above her head while standing by the roadside.
She was dressed in a bra, trousers and stockings, with her shirt draped over her arm. Her phone and handbag were still with her, but she was not wearing any shoes.
The witness also alleged that there appeared to be bruises on her cheek and left arm.

Several Chinese tourists reportedly approached her and tried to ask what had happened, but she remained silent.
Only wanted to speak to embassy officials
Police officers arrived at around 6.15 pm on and allegedly asked her to put on her shirt.
However, the woman reportedly refused to cooperate and insisted that she would only speak to an official from the Chinese embassy.
As there were no female police officers at the scene at the time, the male officers reportedly avoided making physical contact with her.
At around 7pm, she began walking towards Avenue K while police officers followed closely behind.
An embassy representative later arrived and attempted to calm her down. A member of the public also reportedly bought her a pair of shoes and encouraged her to wear them.
Taken away by police later that evening
The woman later entered KLCC and gestured that she wanted some water while discussions continued.
The bystander claimed that the woman was eventually placed inside a police vehicle at approximately 8.40pm. She allegedly attempted to resist and run away, but a female officers managed to restrain her.
The unusual sight of her raising her passport outside one of Kuala Lumpur’s busiest landmarks amused and puzzled netizens, although several also expressed concern over her wellbeing and the alleged bruises seen on her body.
At the time of writing, the woman’s identity and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear and no official statement appears to have been issued by the authorities.
