We all can probably understand how frustrating it is to find a parking lot at a crowded place, but that frustration is exacerbated even more due to the selfishness of others.
A woman received widespread condemnation from netizens after a dashcam footage showed her using her own body to book a parking lot at an iconic stall in Johor.
Woman ‘chopes’ parking lot for SG-registered car
In a clip shared by SG Road Vigilante – SGRV on its Facebook page last Saturday (Apr 13), it showed a car turning into an empty parking lot located outside the Tangkak Beef noodle restaurant in Kluang, Johor.

According to the caption, the incident took place on Friday (Apr 12) at around 12.03pm.
As the car was turning into the parking lot, the driver was met by a woman who was holding an umbrella and standing inside the empty lot.
As the car came closer, the woman could be seen waving her hand, seemingly an attempt to ‘shoo’ the driver away and asking him not to move forward anymore.

She was also seen talking inaudibly to the driver, presumably telling him that the parking lot was reserved for someone else.
Towards the end of the clip, it flashed a photo of a red Mitsubishi car which bore a Singapore-registered number plate occupying the said lot.

Woman slammed for her selfishness
The video, which has since been viewed 70,000 times, saw netizens lambasting the woman for being inconsiderate to other drivers with her actions.

Some said they would ignore the woman and park at the empty lot as she had no right to ‘chope’ it.

Meanwhile, some netizens sarcastically ‘thanked’ the woman for giving Kluang free publicity with the clip.

Under Malaysian law, those found guilty of ‘choping’ parking lots with any objects may be fined up to RM2,000 or jailed up to 6 months under Section 50(3) of the 1987 Road Traffic Act.
If they’re caught doing it again, the fine increases to RM4,000 and jail time may be up to 12 months.
