[VIDEO] Will Smith slaps Chris Rock onstage for joking about his wife at Oscars

Known to be on the greatest events in television history, the Oscars 2022 got a little spicier as Will Smith walked up to host Chris Rock and delivered a resounding slap over a joke gone wrong.

His slap comes after Rock joked about his wife Jada-Pinkett Smith’s role in G.I. Jane 2 – a subtle reference to her bald head caused by alopecia.

While Pinkett-Smith has shared openly about her struggles with alopecia, Rock’s joke apparently rubbed Will the wrong way, who didn’t hesitate to show what he really felt.

Right after the assault, Rock seemed unfazed and said,” Wow, Will Smith just smacked the s*** out of me.”

Upon returning to his seat, Will yelled “Keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth!” twice as shocked celebrities nearby tried to process what exactly went down.

However, all seemed to be well as Will accepted the Best Actor award for his role as Richard Williams in the film King Richard.

During his speech, he addressed his wife as a “fierce defender of his family” and said that he would continue “to love people and to protect people and to be a river to my people”.

According to The Guardian, this isn’t the first time Rock has cracked jokes about Pinkett-Smith, where in 2016 he referred to her boycotting of the Oscars as him “boycotting Rihanna’s panties – I wasn’t invited!”
