Motorists were left startled after a wild elephant was spotted calmly walking along a road in Felda Cerul, Terengganu, this morning.
Videos circulating online showed the elephant leisurely strolling along the road in Bukit Bandi at around 11am despite the rain, causing traffic to come to a standstill.
Did not display aggressive behaviour
The animal did not display any aggressive behaviour and appeared unfazed by the presence of vehicles.
However, drivers were clearly alarmed by the unexpected encounter.
In the first video, several cars were seen slowly reversing as the elephant approached, with motorists keeping their distance to avoid provoking the animal.

A second video showed several vehicles already backed up some distance away, with motorists observing the situation carefully and waiting for an opportunity to pass once it was safe to do so.
Drivers heading in the opposite direction were also seen reversing immediately upon spotting the elephant, choosing caution over risk to prevent any potential attack.

Wildlife sightings along rural roads are not uncommon, and motorists are generally advised to remain calm, keep a safe distance, and avoid honking or making sudden movements when encountering wild animals.
