Who Said Foldables Are Fragile? HONOR Magic V6 Tows A Plane & A Supercar To Prove Them Wrong

Aircraft? Supercar? Angle grinder? No problem.
Foldable phones have come a long way, but the doubts have never quite gone away. “Too delicate.” “Too easy to break.” “Too expensive to fix.”

These labels have clung to the category for years, and they’re exactly what HONOR is challenging head-on with the upcoming Magic V6.

Through a series of extreme, almost audacious stress tests, including towing a commercial aircraft, pulling a supercar, hanging a full-grown adult for pull-ups, and dragging an angle grinder across the display, the Magic V6 passed every single one.

When the challenges were done, the hinge opened and closed smoothly. The screen showed no damage. The phone was fine.

This isn’t marketing theatre. These are record-certified results. The HONOR Magic V6 is, without question, the toughest foldable phone ever made.

Built To Bend, Not Break

HONOR’s own consumer research shows that around 33% of prospective buyers say they’re hesitant, afraid the hinge will loosen, the chassis will warp, or that the phone will crack under any real-world pressure.

Beneath all those individual worries is one core question: is the structure strong enough?

HONOR’s answer lies in the HONOR Super Steel Hinge, engineered from a specialty super-steel with a tensile strength of 2,800 MPa, making it the strongest commercial-grade specialty steel ever used in a consumer device.

It has passed SGS’s 500,000-fold test. Even at 100 folds a day, that translates to over 13 years of reliable use.

To validate this structural integrity, HONOR put the Magic V6 through two extreme real-world tests: towing a commercial aircraft for 150 metres, and hauling a supercar for 30 metres.

In both cases, the hinge remained fully intact, opening and closing with the same smooth action as before. No screen bleed. No dead pixels. No warping.

For users, this means no more anxiety about hinge fatigue from daily use, and no more bracing for the worst every time a phone takes a tumble.

This aircraft-towing challenge was officially certified on-site by both Asia Record and ASEAN Record: Heaviest Aircraft Towed By A Foldable Smartphone.

The aerospace-grade built materials keep the whole package remarkably light: 219g total weight, 8.75mm folded, and just 4mm thin when open, slimmer than many traditional flagship phones, yet built to handle extreme tensile forces.

In a further demonstration, the Magic V6 was used to support a full-grown adult performing pull-ups, with zero deformation or damage to the frame.

A phone that can bear the weight of a person without bending doesn’t need to fear being squeezed in a bag, flexed in a pocket, or dropped on concrete.

This is what HONOR means by “slim, not soft”: 4mm thin, yet strong enough to hold a human being.

Screen Protection From Outer To Inner

Screen vulnerability is the other major pain point for foldable phones, whether it’s the outer display picking up scratches from everyday life, or the inner display wearing down from tens of thousands of open-and-close cycles.

Both have historically kept users on edge.

The Magic V6’s outer display uses HONOR Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield, built up through a precise stack of 5,600 layers of silicon nitride coating.

The result: 10x improved drop resistance, 15x improved scratch resistance, 3x greater abrasion resistance, and 3x better anti-glare performance, with a reflectance as low as 1.5%, keeping the screen legible even in direct sunlight.

To put the scratch resistance to the test, HONOR ran a grinder across the outer display, using the same grinder that had just sanded through sandpaper and rust.

The screen came away unmarked. If an angle grinder can’t scratch it, your keys and coins certainly won’t.

On the inner display, Magic V6 features the all-new HONOR Magic Diamond Screen, equipped with ultra-tough UTG, or Ultra-Thin Glass, flexible glass.

Compared to conventional CPI plastic cover panels, UTG delivers a generational leap in hardness, light transmittance, and impact resistance.

Combined with the hinge’s precision support structure, the inner screen has earned “Zero-Perception Crease” certification by SGS, with a crease depth meaningfully shallower than competing products, delivering on the promise of “flexible, but far from fragile.”

Protected In Every Scenario

Beyond structure and screen, foldable phones have two silent threats: water and dust.

The folding mechanism inherently creates gaps throughout the device, and if those gaps aren’t sealed properly, moisture and particles find their way in, causing hinge noise, corroded flex cables, and even short circuits.

HONOR Magic V6 achieves class-leading IP68 + IP69 dust and water resistance among foldable phones, rated for submersion at 1.5 metres, and certified against high-temperature, high-pressure water jets.

Whether you’re caught in the rain, splashing water while washing your hands, or using the phone in a steam-filled bathroom or kitchen, the Magic V6 handles it without a second thought.

From the hinge gaps to every button cutout, every point has been precision-sealed to give water and dust nowhere to go.

Of course, no phone is completely accident-proof. That’s why HONOR backs the Magic V6 with an industry-leading service plan: a 2-year Worry-Free Quality Assurance, far above the standard one-year coverage, plus a 1-year Outer and Inner Screen Crack Protection covering both the inner and outer displays.

Even if the worst happens, users won’t face an eye-watering repair bill. The anxiety of “what if I can’t afford to fix it” simply no longer applies.

The Confidence To Use Magic V6 Without A Case

Through its series of extreme challenges, HONOR Magic V6 has physically dismantled the last remaining anxieties around foldable phones, the “too precious, too breakable” perception that has held the category back.

But HONOR’s confidence doesn’t come only from what the Magic V6 can do today. It comes from years of earned trust in the market.

HONOR has built its foldable reputation steadily, generation after generation, earning consistent praise for reliability and innovation.

According to the latest market data, one in every three foldable phones sold comes from HONOR. That track record is precisely what gives the brand the standing to raise the bar with Magic V6.

HONOR Magic V6 will officially launch in Malaysia on 4 June at 8:00PM.

To help more users get their hands on the toughest foldable phone around, HONOR has opened an Early Bird Exclusive starting now.
