Have you joined CHAGEE’s “Tear & Win” event last weekend, or at least caught wind of the boiling drama it brewed?
For one unlucky couple, their participation ended not with a luxurious prize but a car soaked in milk tea.
A surprise that overflowed
In a viral social media post, a netizen shared how what started as an exciting prize reveal quickly turned into a sticky mishap.
The video captures a man enthusiastically peeling off the bottom of his CHAGEE cup, which read “Open for Surprise.”
And a surprise they got indeed—just not the one they were hoping for.
Milk tea suddenly poured out of the hole at the cup’s base, spilling directly onto the car’s interior.
Chaos ensued as the man scrambled to contain the mess while his partner, in shock, yelled his name, “Yap Jun Hao.”
Acting quickly, Yap opened the car door to take the overflowing cup outside, but the damage had already been done.
The posts went super viral, garnering over 70k likes on Xiaohongshu.
The shout of “Yap Jun Hao” has left netizens both entertained and amused, prompting many brands to jump on the bandwagon and incorporate the name into their marketing campaigns.
CHAGEE’s response
The couple later explained that the CHAGEE cup holding their drink had a leakage, which caused the milk tea to seep into the prize compartment.
They ended up with a “surprise” — a literal milk tea flood.
To make up for the sticky situation, CHAGEE staff offered the couple a replacement drink as compensation for the mishap.
“CHAGEE’s official team has already contacted me. I’ll post and share a video later to show the compensation they provided, she told WeirdKaya.”
CHAGEE also stated that they would cover the car washing fees and provide merchandise as compensation.
When asked about the car situation, she said, “The car is fine. Tomorrow, I’ll take it for a deep cleaning. From now on, I won’t dare to open any drinks inside the car!” 🥲
As for the unexpectedly viral video, she expressed her surprise and gratitude, saying she never anticipated it would gain such attention and was thankful that people enjoyed it and found joy in the moment.
