The beloved “Akka Nasi Lemak” vendor who went viral in 2023 for her cheerful spirit and hardworking attitude says she’s still content with life, even though her stall no longer draws long queues like before.
‘Hardship is normal to me’
Speaking to WeirdKaya, Akka shared that she’s used to working through challenges and doesn’t let difficulties get in the way of her joy.
“Hardship is normal for me. It’s part of life. We just do what we can,” she said.

She added that she treats running her stall as a personal responsibility and prefers to focus on her business rather than what people say about her.
I don’t listen to what others say. If it’s good, I take it. If not, I let it go.”
Happy to serve customers from far and wide
Despite smaller crowds now, she still feels blessed — especially when customers travel from other states or even countries just to try her nasi lemak.

There were people from China and Thailand who came after seeing my viral video. I’m really happy. It means a lot when they come from so far to meet me,” she said with a smile.
Her secret? Just do it
For her, starting the day with purpose and positive energy is key.
Some people wake up with a sleepy face, but not me. I wash up and just start my day. I’m really happy every morning,” she said.
She also left a message for others, especially women: “Whether you’re male or female, don’t be lazy. If you can do something, just do it. Don’t focus on the negatives. Think positive.”
A reminder to keep going
Although the hype may have faded, the “Akka Nasi Lemak” vendor continues to be a symbol of perseverance and positivity for many Malaysians.
Her message is simple but powerful: Do your best, ignore the noise, and keep moving forward.
