Recently, this daring couple caught the attention of netizens during the Olympics season when they boldly ventured from M’sia to Paris—not by plane, but on their kapcai.
Meet Alfi and Diana, a fearless duo who chose a non-traditional path, traveling the world and vlogging their adventures together. While most wives might shy away from such risky endeavors. Diana is the exact opposite—fully supporting her husband every step of the way, no matter the danger.
Alfi shared with WeirdKaya that he holds a degree in electrical and electronic engineering, while his wife, Diana, has a degree in applied science. Despite their academic backgrounds, the couple found themselves working in a bank before their lives took a dramatic turn.
To sustain their lifestyle and passion for travel, they now organize events and work as tour guides.
“Just gotta do it”
After getting married, they made a life-changing decision to quit their stable 9-to-5 jobs and pursue their passion for adventure.
Armed with a sense of daring and a love for exploration, they set off on their kapcai, embarking on a journey to travel across countries, discovering new places and cultures on their motorbike.
They took the risks while embracing the excitement and freedom that comes with leaving behind the conventional path for a life of adventure on the open road.
The first journey
The couple tied the knot on March 30, 2017, and shortly after, embarked on their very first grand adventure, an overland journey from M’sia to London. This wasn’t just any trip for Alfi and Diana; it was a symbolic tribute to Merdeka, commemorating M’sia’s independence in a truly unique way.
Their ride to London marked the beginning of a series of incredible overlanding adventures they would share together, navigating through diverse landscapes, overcoming challenges, and creating lifelong memories.
What made this journey even more significant was their passion for pushing boundaries, not only for themselves but also for M’sian-made bikes, proving that with determination and proper preparation, you can go as far as your dreams take you.
What inspired them to do this?
The couple shared that their goal was to prove to the world that M’sian-made bikes are not only durable but capable of long-distance travel.
With the right skills and proper maintenance, they believe you can journey as far as your heart desires, regardless of the distance.
Most think that Msian-made bikes are not long lasting, and we wish to change their mind.
From Dubai to Turkey, more than 30 countries
Alfi and Diana have traveled to more than 30 countries, including destinations like India, Dubai, Turkey, and London. Their extensive travels often involve passing through multiple countries to reach their final destination, allowing them to experience a wide range of cultures and landscapes along the way.
For the Paris Olympics, we spent roughly RM70K, covering accommodation, food, visas, insurance, the Carnet, and everything else. Despite the expenses, the thrill of overlanding and discovering new places together makes it all worthwhile”
They told WeirdKaya, this cost is fairly common when traveling through European countries, but for them , it’s worth it because that’s what they love.
Alfi shared that their typical four-month journey costs around RM70K, with the most crucial expenses being visas, Carnet de Passage (a customs document for their bike), and insurance.
These are key to ensuring a smooth and hassle-free adventure, especially when crossing international borders.
More about the Paris Olympics journey
Initially, the couple had planned to travel to Qatar to attend the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) tournament and show their support for Harimau Malaya, the national football team of M’sia.
Their love for adventure and sports fueled their desire to be a part of this major event. However, after their time in Qatar, they decided to extend their journey even further.
With the spirit of exploration guiding them, they set their sights on Paris, aiming to witness the grand spectacle of the Olympics firsthand.
This bold decision marked another chapter in their remarkable journey, as they transitioned from supporting football in Qatar to experiencing the excitement of the world’s biggest sporting event in France.
The hard parts
Alfi and Diana shared that their biggest struggle during their travels is adjusting to the constant changes in weather and seasons. Whether it’s extreme heat or sudden cold, these shifts make their journey more challenging.
Additionally, they often face communication barriers with locals, but they’ve learned to navigate this by using Google Translate, which helps them get by when language becomes a problem. Despite these challenges, they continue to embrace every part of their adventure.
Their advice for those who want to be like them
Alfi encourages others not to overthink it and just go for it, assuring that you’ll find a way to overcome the small challenges along the way.
Just do it—don’t wait until you’re wealthy or think you have “enough” to travel. Use what you have and make it happen. The key is to start, not to wait for the perfect moment.
The couple also has their sights set on an exciting new adventure—they hope to embark on a journey to the 2026 World Cup in the USA. It’s another ambitious goal, and they are eager to take their kapcai across continents to be part of this global sporting event, continuing their passion for travel and adventure.
