While the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) has long been recognised as one of the most famed airports in the world, its facilities sadly don’t necessarily reflect its prestigious position.
A video on Xiaohongshu (XHS) recently showed water pouring right through the roof at KLIA 1 during the current monsoon season, amusing netizens and displaying the deep need for repairs to be done.

In the 13-second video, the OP filmed the floor at KLIA 1 getting flooded near a Chanel store while water leaks incessantly through the roof.

In the caption, the OP wrote: “It’s ‘raining’ inside KLIA 1. I was passing by when I saw the most exaggerated form of water leakage.”
She also added that the video was taken last Sunday (Dec 8).
‘Like the waterfall inside Changi Airport’
In the comment section, netizens couldn’t help but to be tickled by the sight of KLIA 1 getting flooded and left humourous remarks about it.
‘Both KLIA 1 and Singapore’s Changi Airport both have waterfalls.’

‘Not every advanced airport has the ability to pull this off. (KLIA) is the pride of Malaysia.’

Meanwhile, some expressed embarrassment over the dilapidated state of a supposed world-class airport like KLIA.

Aside from airports, public transport in Malaysia have also experienced a similar problem with water leaking right into it:
