If you’re one of the many Malaysians who has been scrolling through mouth-watering Ramadan content on social media, most likely you’d have heard of the name Chef Ammar before.
Aside from being known for its relatively steep prices and long queues, Chef Ammar has had its share of controversy as well, like the recent incident where a hangry customer lodged a police report after complaining of waiting for hours due to the stall’s policy of prioritising pregnant women.
However, such controversies have only seemed to catapult Chef Ammar further into online fame as shown in a TikTok video by EzLokal, where the team recorded their 4-hour wait for their food.
All for the food
According to the clip, EzLokal’s team reached the place at 2.58 pm and only got their food at 6.30 pm – a wait of close to four hours.
A large crowd was also spotted at the scene, where many were holding umbrellas and sitting on stools that they had brought with them.

In a follow-up video, EzLokal’s team did a review on the food they bought at Chef Ammar, namely the Nasi Arab with Lamb Shank and Saffron Egg Set and the Kabsah Roasted Chicken Set.
The video has also gone viral on TikTok, where it received 650k views, 33.9k likes and 893 comments at the time of writing.

Was the wait worth it?
Speaking to WeirdKaya, the folks at EzLokal gave the food 7/10 rating, saying that while they could clearly see the high quality of the ingredients used, it unfortunately fell short in the tasting aspect.
The taste was average overall and had nothing to shout about. We paid RM50 for the lamb shank set and RM25 for the Kabsah chicken.
The team at EzLokal also told us the queue typically starts at around 12 pm and food will only be sold at 3 pm.

If you’re still itching to give Chef Ammar a try despite the review and long queues, be sure to check out the bazaar at Stadium Shah Alam and don’t forget the bring an umbrella and chair as you’ll be waiting under the hot sun for hours.
Do take note of the stall’s new policy where every customer can only purchase two lamb shank sets and two Kabsah chicken sets.
Not a fan of waiting outside the stadium? You can also head over to Chef Ammar Xpress Souk Café at USJ 14, where it’s under the same owner and serves an array of Arabian food.
