For years, Cantik has been a quiet fixture at LRT Wangsa Maju, greeting commuters every single day.

Now, after a health scare that rallied thousands of Malaysians online, she is finally heading somewhere warmer.
One commuter noticed what thousands walked past
On 30 May, a Threads user known as @annisa_kl_my spotted Cantik at the station looking unwell.
Her ears appeared red, inflamed, and patchy, a signs that had gone unnoticed amid the daily rush of commuters.
After reaching out to station staff and rallying support online, Annisa brought Cantik to the vet on 2 June.

She later shared that Cantik walked into the pet carrier on her own. The vet confirmed an ear infection and also gave Cantik deworming medication and vaccinations.
Annisa returned Cantik to the station afterwards, handing the health record card to a staff member for safekeeping.
Then the internet had questions
Annisa’s post caught the attention of another Threads user, @pherbies, who stepped in to coordinate further help and called on the community to chip in for additional vet costs.
The community responded, and RM37 in donations was collected and passed to a station staff member to fund Cantik’s ongoing care.

Many netizens urged @pherbies to simply adopt Cantik so she could finally live indoors.
However, it was alleged that a staff member blocked the adoption from going through, which frustrated many who felt Cantik deserved better care than what station life could offer at her age.
She was spotted looking very sick, yet thousands of commuters just walked by. It took one kind, observant lady to finally step in. If Cantik is truly under their care as a station cat, why didn’t the staff take her to the vet in the first place?
@pherbies also shared that she had taken Cantik home for a period in 2023 and 2024, but the cat refused to eat and was clearly unhappy indoors.
On top of that, Cantik was reportedly kidnapped from the station in 2025 and is believed to still be carrying trauma from that experience.
The news got more serious
@pherbies eventually managed to bring Cantik back to the vet for a second round of checks. This time the results were more worrying.
Cantik was found to have low blood glucose and a serious skin condition, believed to be linked to her age, prolonged outdoor living, and stress. The good news was that she tested negative for both Parvo and FIP.
Because Cantik would not eat on her own and had to be force fed, she was kept at the vet under close supervision.
@pherbies committed to visiting every two days for the first month, and every week after that, and made clear the plan could still evolve depending on how Cantik responds.
A forever home, finally in sight
The current plan is for Cantik to be transferred to another veterinary clinic, which may become her permanent home as a resident cat.
If that does not work out, @pherbies has said she will either adopt Cantik herself or find a carefully selected, trusted adopter.
My goal is to let her retire gracefully.
For a cat who never asked for the spotlight, Cantik somehow ended up in thousands of daily routines.
And now, the kindest thing her fans can do is let her go, quietly and lovingly, into whatever warm corner is waiting for her next.
