[VIDEO] Myanmar soldiers caught shooting civilians on camera

The Myanmar protests have been ongoing for close to two months, and neither side is backing down. As a result, more lives have been sacrificed or thrown into chaos every single day.

As the protests continue, the amount of footage and images showing military brutality towards innocent civilians uploaded on social media has increased too.

In a recent video circulating online, a group of heavily armed soldiers were caught firing indiscriminately at three civilians along the street.

In the video, two unmarked vehicles carrying the soldiers came to an abrupt stop upon encountering three males on a motorcycle. Without any warning, they fired away at the unsuspecting men. One was severely wounded and taken away by the soldiers, while the other two managed to escape.

According to the independent Myanmar Now news outlet, an estimated 114 civilians were killed on Saturday (March 27) alone, marking it the bloodiest day since the protests began.

Around 3,000 villagers from Myanmar’s southeastern Karen state fled to Thailand for refuge as the military launched five airstrikes in the Mustraw district.

UN Special Rapporteur for human rights in Myanmar Tom Andrews urged global leaders to take action, stating that “words are not enough.”

“Words of condemnation or concern are frankly ringing hollow to the people of Myanmar while the military junta commits mass murder against them.”

“The people of Myanmar need the world’s support,” he said.
