Apparently, this isn't the trader's first rodeo.

He said they received a police report from the 33-year-old PBT officer after the video went viral yesterday afternoon.

“Based on the report, the incident transpired when the officer, along with seven other colleagues, conducted an operation at the location to confront unlicensed traders.

“One of the traders started recording the officer with his mobile phone, prompting him (the officer) to stop him from recording further, resulting in an altercation.”

“During the scuffle, the other traders hurled abusive language and tried preventing the officers from carrying out their duties,” he said when contacted by Harian Metro today.

Nasaruddin added that the officer had informed the trader that he was under the radar for operating his stall at an illegal spot.

He also said that the trader had two previous run-ins with authorities dating back to February and March, making this incident his third.

“The trader was also found to be uncooperative when asked to produce his identification card (IC) before the PBT officer could issue him a summon for manning a stall at a parking lot and using a damaged temperature scanner.”

Other items such as umbrellas, table legs, banners, rice packets, cakes, and temperature scanners were seized from the trader’s stall during the operation.

Mohd Nasaruddin said the case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code.

“I remind all parties not to take pictures or record videos about anything in an attempt to garner sympathy or take advantage of the situation.

“This is bad behaviour that will become a norm,” he said.
