Batu Pahat MP Mohd Rashid Hasnon has denied throwing a durian feast following a viral video released on social media.
In the video, he was seen eating at table laden with durian with several other people maskless and not socially distanced.
When contacted by Malaysiakini, Rashid vehemently denied the allegation, claiming that the video wasn’t the same footage taken at a public event held at the Batu Pahat Municipal Council office last Sunday (June 27).
“The video was taken a very long time ago. I remember it was around last year before MCO,” he said.
However, several sharp-eyed netizens quickly pointed out that he was wearing the same attire during the said public event.
Despite the photographic evidence, Rashid’s aide brushed it aside, claiming that it occured by chance.
“Perhaps the clothes (were the same) due to coincidence.”
According to Malaysiakini, Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin confirmed that she was present at the event but refuted claims that she participated the durian feast as well.
