[VIDEO] Cosmetics tycoon labels Malaysians pleading for help with #WhiteFlag as “lazy”

Malaysians who wave the white flag to ask for aid during the ongoing #BenderaPutih campaign are “lazy”, according to cosmestics millionaire Datuk Seri Vida.

In a Tweet that included a 45-second TikTok clip, Vida was seen buying food from a street vendor before she made the remark.

“Stop using PKP (Movement Control Order) as an excuse to say you can’t make a living and can’t work,” she said.

In an attempt to emphasize her rationale, Vida asked the vendor how long he had been operating, to which he answered: “A year.”

Turning back to the camera, Vida continued to chide Malaysians who resorted to raising white flags.

“He managed to earn RM200 to RM250 a day, as long as there’s a will and hard work and the most important thing, the menu has to be delicious and clean. If not, bye!”

She also urged Malaysians to work with their own hands instead of relying on public aid to survive.

“Don’t you understand? Work hard, don’t be lazy and expect help by putting up a white flag!”

Unsurprisingly, Vida’s remark unleashed a wave of fury from netizens, who slammed her for her arrogance and lack of empathy.

“Why are rich people like her so unsympathetic?”

“Not everyone has the capital to start a business.“

“The rich always condemn the poor in an arrogant manner. But they forget that the common folk are the ones who patronise their business.”

Other realised that the tycoon wasn’t wearing a mask and called her out on it.

The #BenderaPutih campaign kickstarted last week and many Malaysians have receieved help from the public.
