The outlet issued a statement claiming that the ‘US’ in their name does not reference the United States but translates to ‘kita’ in Malay, signifying ‘us’ and symbolizing the brand’s local and inclusive identity.

The clarification was made by none other than DS Dr. Hj Mohd Sobree Hj Ali, the CEO of Wealth Link Freedom Sdn Bhd, who also happens to own the franchise.

In his message, he warmly invites customers to the family-owned establishment, assuring them of the local, halal nature of the business.

This clarification came amidst a backdrop of Malaysian businesses actively distancing themselves from international connections, particularly related to the Israel-Palestine conflict, and opting to emphasize their local roots.

What added to the intrigue was the subsequent disappearance of the statement. Initially shared on the outlet’s social media pages, the statement was unexpectedly deleted from their TikTok account, according to The Rakyat Post.

Further deepening the mystery, the outlet’s Facebook page became inaccessible, taking the statement with it.

This abrupt digital erasure has sparked conversations and speculation among netizens, with no clear explanation provided by the outlet or its owner.

WeirdKaya has contacted US Pizza Malaysia to request a statement regarding the matter, but as of now, they have not responded.
