[JUST IN] Mild tremors detected in Selangor and KL due to earthquake in Indonesia

KUALA LUMPUR – An earthquake with 18km epicentre occurred southeast of Padang Sidempuan, Indonesia at 1:19pm today (August 11), reported the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MET).

According to MET, the earthquake measured 5.6 on the Richter scale and had a depth of 19km. added that said that MET also shared the details of the epicentre in their Facebook post.

Magnitude: 5.6 Richter scale
Distance: 18km Southeast of Padang Sidempuan, Indonesia
Depth: 19 km

Currently, there is no tsunami threat towards Malaysia despite mild tremors being felt at parts Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
