Traffic cop lodges report against netizen who accused him of not wearing a mask

He said the netizen was trying to tarnish his and the force's reputation.

KUALA LUMPUR – A traffic officer has lodged a report following a picture of him not wearing a face mask shared by a netizen on social media, citing slander.

Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) Chief Assistant Commissioner Zulkefly Yahya said that the officer was controlling traffic at the night market near Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman from 1 pm to 10 pm last Wednesday (April 21).

“He had just finished breaking fast with five other colleagues under a tent at the intersection of Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman/Jalan Esfahan near a shopping mall at 8 pm.”

“The picture is believed to have been taken before he put his face mask and helmet back on to resume his work.”

Zulkefly also said that the officer had lodged a police report against the netizen, alleging that he/she was trying to ruin his good reputation, along with the force’s.
