ALOR SETAR: Three policemen were among six individuals arrested on suspicion of embezzling RM400,000 in cash after breaking into the branch office of a logistics company last Wednesday.
Kedah Police Chief Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said the suspects disabled the closed-circuit camera (CCTV) by removing the main fuse of the electricity supply outside the office at around 1.30 am.
They then broke into the premises through the main door before fleeing with a safe containing approximately RM400,000.
“However, we arrested one of the suspects a few hours after the incident following a public tip-off,” he said at a press conference at the Kedah Contingent Headquarters (IPK) today.
He said that two more suspects were arrested last Thursday prior to detaining three police officers consisting of a sergeant and two corporals yesterday.
Datuk Kamarul said all the suspects were in their 30s and 50s.
“We also recovered RM263,295 in stolen money as well,” he said.

Several items including a safe, seven smartphones, two SIM cards and a grinding machine were also seized to assist investigations.
“We are currently looking into the role played by the three policemen in this incident,” he added.
Datuk Kamarul said that police are hunting down two more suspects believed to be part of the heist as well.
“The first individual is 28-year-old Muhammad Nur Fahmi Che Pi, with his last address registered in Kampung Berjaya, while the second individual is Muhamad Amin Hassan, 23.
“We believe they are still at large and may help us recover the remaining RM130,000,” he said.
He added that all the suspects will be remanded for seven days until July 1 and that the case is being investigated under to Section 457 of the Penal Code.
