What netizens had to say about the feat
The significance of this achievement was not lost on netizens, who flooded the comments section with their thoughts and queries.
Some expressed relief at having opted for the traditional testing method, citing the rigorous nature of the eTesting, which leaves little room for error.
Others pondered the logistics of the eTesting, questioning whether it takes place on a designated circuit or on public roads.
What’s eTesting anyway?
For those unfamiliar with the eTesting system, it allows driving school students to undergo tests independently in their own vehicles, with Road Transport Department (JPJ) officers monitoring their performance remotely.
This innovative approach aims to combat corruption while increasing efficiency in the testing process.
Muhammad Ridzwan Chum Abdullah made history by being the first individual in Malaysia to obtain the ‘P’ License through JPJ’s eTesting.
His test, conducted with the Transport Minister Anthony Loke and senior JPJ officers present, marked the symbolic inauguration of this new testing method.
eTesting advantages
Minister Loke emphasised that the eTesting system not only enhances integrity but also allows for greater accessibility to driving examinations.
With the capacity to test more candidates per day compared to traditional methods, the system streamlines the testing process while reducing the workload on driving institute assessors.
Furthermore, the eTesting system offers benefits to test candidates, including the opportunity for a second attempt on the same day at no extra cost and priority reservation for test slots. Additionally, candidates receive a rebate for provisional license issuance.
The pilot project foreTesting has commenced at select driving institutes and is set to expand nationwide over the next six years. All in all, minister Loke is optimistic about the system’s potential to revolutionise driving license issuance, improve integrity, and enhance monitoring capabilities.
