A Malaysian netizen has sparked buzz online after sharing a video of koi fishes swimming freely in a neighbourhood drain, prompting many to praise how clean the area must be.
The video, posted by a user named Faeez on social media, shows several koi fishes gliding through the clear water of a residential drain beside a row of terrace houses.
The clip came with a cheeky caption emphasising that this wasn’t Japan, but a Malaysian drain.
Who says our drains aren’t clean? There are even different species of fish inside,” he wrote proudly.
To protect the fish from disturbance and ensure their safety, Faeez chose not to reveal the exact location of the neighbourhood.
Many commenters asked for the location, saying they wanted to see it for themselves.
Some, however, questioned whether the koi were AI-generated. Faeez shut down the rumours quickly, clarifying: “They’re real.”
