The complete saga of how an “airy fringe” turned into an “angry fringe”

Talk about having a bad hair day.

PENANG – A hairstyle means a lot to a person’s appearance; thus, most would patronize hair salons with reputable and skilled hairstylists. But sometimes, there may be instances of it going pear-shaped.

Celine Teoh, a 31-year-old housewife, took to social media to share how the hairstyle of her dreams went downhill in a shocking manner.

“Two hairstylists whom I was familiar with were busy, so I accepted another staff’s offer to cut my hair. But this “airy fringe” is driving me nuts!”

The post quickly went viral, and the hair salon, Hairstory International, issued a public apology for the fiasco. They also contacted Celine and offered to redo her hairstyle.

Celine released a follow-up post on Thursday night (March 11), saying that she had accepted Hairstory’s apology and offer.

“Everyone, please stop attacking the hair salon. Use the energy instead by wishing me luck for a better hairstyle. Thank you, netizens!”

She also pointed out that she decided to give Hairstory a chance even though she received similar offers from other hair salons.

In an interview with One FM’s DJs, Nicholas and William, on the “Morning Kaki” segment, Celine admitted that she had second thoughts about the staff’s abilities, but not wanting to pass judgment too quickly, she decided to give him a try. Unfortunately, it did not turn out the way she wanted.

When asked if the hairstylist was a trainee, Celine said that Hairstory firmly denies this. As for her hairdo, she isn’t quite hopeful.

“It can’t be any uglier after all.”

Celine is slated to appear again on One FM next Monday for a follow-up session regarding her new and improved hairdo.

Hairstory’s artistic director was also involved in the process, where he adjusted the length of Celine’s hair to complement her fringe and dyed it, giving her a brand new look.

Celine said she was satisfied with Hairstory’s handling of the matter, praising them for owning up to their mistakes. She added that she did not expect to gain mass attention and revealed that news media and broadcast stations from Hong Kong had contacted her over the issue.

The staff who styled Celine’s hair was reportedly demotivated by the incident and wanted to resign, but Ang would not accept it and urged the public to give him a chance to improve.

Ang also took to his personal Facebook account to plead for compassion and understanding from netizens.

Netizens waited anxiously to catch a glimpse of Celine’s new hairstyle, and they were rewarded for their patience when one netizen posted a photo from Celine’s Instagram account in the comment section.

What do you think about it? Was it good enough, or could it have been better?
