Winning the lottery is no doubt everyone’s dream, but it’s also common knowledge that the chances of winning it is extremely thin.
A man in Thailand literally became a millionaire overnight after he won five first-place lottery jackpots following a visit to a temple in Sriracha, Chonburi.
Thai man receives blessing mark from monk
According to a report by Thai news outlet Khaosod, the young man named Worawong paid the Khao Mai Daeng Temple a visit on Sept 30, which is located in the Bang Phra sub-district of Sriracha, Chonburi Province.
Furthermore, the temple is also known among the Thais for being a sacred place and housing several monks who possess supernatural abilities.
At the temple, Worawong met with a monk named Luang Pho Sa-nga (transliteration) and received a blessing mark on his hand for his birthday.
While waiting for his turn to get the blessing mark, Worawong bought five lottery tickets, where the winning number was 718665.
Aside from the blessing mark, he also rented an amulet which he believed would bring good fortune for him.
Becomes lottery winner the next day
Much to Worawong’s surprise, he was named the winner of a jackpot worth 30 million baht (approx. RM3,800,000) the next day (Oct 1) — a fortune he attributed to the blessing mark and amulet he had rented.
Filled with gratitude for winning the lottery, Worawong returned to the temple to pay his respect and express thankfulness.
As part of his display of gratefulness, he pledged to donate 499,999 baht (approx. RM63,700) of his winnings to build a stupa for the temple.
