A woman in Dungun, Terengganu, has died after she was allegedly assaulted by her husband with a hammer.
Utusan reported that the incident took place at the couple’s home in Kampung Besol, Bukit Besi, at around 8am yesterday (Mar 5).

According to Dungun district police chief Supt Baharudin Abdullah, he said the couple had an argument which was believed to have been sparked by a misunderstanding.
As the argument escalated further, the suspect, who was in his 30s, took a hammer and hit the victim, 41-year-old Rubiah Sabtu, with it.
“After the suspect committed the act, he left the house and informed his family members about what he had done.”
Following the suspect’s confession, a police report was then lodged and this led to his arrest.
As for Rubiah, she was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries she had sustained to her face and head. Her body was later sent to the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital for further action.
Suspect described as a ‘good man’
The assault and subsequent death of the victim has sent shockwaves within family members, who were stunned to hear of the suspect’s actions.
The victim’s stepbrother, Rozilan Yusof, told Berita Harian that the suspect was a ‘good man’ who spoke little.
“I’m very shocked to learn about how he was capable of doing such a thing,” he said.
Rozilan added that he and the victim were very close and would often confide in each other about their problems.
“The last time I saw her was the evening before the incident, where I noticed that her face had a look of sadness to it.
“Normally she would tell me what problems she was facing and I didn’t ask her why she looked so sad,” he said.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
