ALOR SETAR – The body of a teenage girl was found dumped at a rubber estate at Pokok Pauh Dalam, Mukim Lesong, Pokok Sena on Tuesday (May 11). Police believed she was brutally murdered after attending a private party.
The victim, identified as Ooi Phei Xuan, 17, was found by police after they received a call at 7.45 pm, reported Harian Metro.
Kota Setar District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Shukri Mat Akhir said that the body has been sent to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital Forensic Department for post-mortem.
“There were injuries to the victim’s body as well, including a hole measuring 1.5cm on her right thigh.”
Ahmad Shukri also added that eight individuals aged 13 to 33 were arrested at 5 pm yesterday (May 13).
“All of the suspects admitted to attending the same party as the victim, which began from Sunday until Monday.
“We’ve also detained a 27-year-old suspect at Taman Derga Jaya to assist in the investigation. He later confessed to be present at the party as well,” he said in a statement.
A urine test revealed that one of the suspects tested positive for ketamine.
All nine suspects will be remanded for six days until May 18 to assist the investigation.
“The case will be investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and we are still finding out what’s the reason behind it,” said Ahmad Shukri.
