With international artists resuming their performances and tours after two years of hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, fans have been jostling with the rest to see their favorite artist onstage, including Malaysians.
However, it seems that they’re set for yet another disappointment after a film about mega superstar Taylor Swift’s ‘The Eras Tour Concert’ will not be shown at local cinemas.

Yesterday, Taylor Swift took to X to announce the official release of ‘The Eras Tour Concert’ film, where it will hit the big screen on Oct 13 across more than 100 countries.
Among some of the Asian countries who will be showing the film at cinemas include Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, and Brunei.
However, sharp-eyed netizens quickly noticed an all-too familiar sight – Malaysia wasn’t in the list of countries.
‘Where is Malaysia?’
According to sources from TGV and GSC Cinemas, they told Malay Mail that there has been no local distributors who picked up the film, which may explain Malaysia’s absence on the list.
Not surprisingly, netizens quickly took to social media to express their disappointment over seeing Malaysia being skipped (again) for a major event.
One wrote: ‘At this point, nobody is surprised.’ Same, bro.
Another opined that Singapore and Indonesia’s ‘liberal’ policies was what allowed the film to be shown at their local cinemas.
As for this netizen, she tagged prime minister Anwar Ibrahim and called on him to “do one thing right” by allowing ‘The Eras Tour Concert’ film to be available in Malaysia.
