Malaysia’s 66th National Day celebrations took an unexpected turn when a group of Malaysians huddled together for an unplanned karaoke session onboard the MRT.
Sharing this epic moment on TikTok yesterday, user Darrel Noel posted a 56-second video showcasing the group going full-on Merdeka mode by singing ‘Tanggal 31’ in the MRT train.

The song was first belted out by a man who had the Jalur Gemilang draped around his shoulders before the rest joined in.
As the singing continued, some were seen whipping out their phones to record this memorable moment of patriotism.

‘Felt like a real-life Disney movie’
Speaking to WeirdKaya, Darrel said this beautiful incident took place on the Kajang MRT line.
While he isn’t sure who was the one who led the singing, Darrel said he was taken by surprise when he saw fellow commuters spontaneously singing ‘Tanggal 31’.
I then decided to join in and the experience was magical. It was like living in a real-life Disney movie!”
