Uncle Roger, a popular Youtuber, has been banned from Weibo. According to Uncle Roger’s Weibo status statement, he is presently banned for breaking “relevant regulations.”
Nigel Ng, better known as Uncle Roger, is a well-known Asian recipe food reviewer. He is also known for his stand up comedy.
In a recent stand up comedy shows, he got himself in hot waters after saying “China is a good country” before grimacing.
“We have to say that now, correct?” he added. “Every phone in the house is listening.”
He then simulated someone chatting on their phone while wearing a belt and said, “Long live President Xi.”
He then proceeded to ask the crowd whether there was anyone from Taiwan, and when they responded yes, he remarked, “Not a real country. Hope one day you rejoin the motherland. One China.”
His statement get the audience laughing before saying “This is not a political show, don’t clap too hard”.
He also commented that he is gonna get cancelled tonight.
This is not the first time Uncle Roger find fault with the Chinese Communist Party of China.
Previously, in January 2021, Chinese followers on Weibo criticized Ng for partnering with Chinese-American Youtuber Mike Chen, who is renowned for his critical views of the CCP.
Both of them did not discuss anything political in the video as they were just mocking a culinary presenter’s effort at making dumplings.
Ng and his team later apologized in a statement at the time and also removed all videos with Chen from all platforms, which sparked criticism from some people who accused Ng of bowing in to China.
Netizens were mostly supportive of Uncle Roger.
