Taiwanese Man Divorces Wife After She Gives Away His Switch 2 As She Felt He ‘Lacked Ambition’

The husband earns RM20k monthly.
A man in Taiwan has gone viral after revealing that he decided to divorce his wife after she allegedly gave away his newly won Nintendo Switch 2 because she felt he was “too obsessed with gaming” and lacked ambition in life.

The story sparked heated debate online, with many netizens defending the husband and saying everyone deserves a hobby and personal happiness.

Annual Salary around RM249k

According to a post shared on Facebook page, the wife initially complained about her husband’s lifestyle and spending habits.

She claimed her husband had worked in a traditional industry in southern Taiwan for 10 years and was only a manager despite earning an annual salary of around RM249,000 (NT$2 million).

She also said he spent most of his weekends either playing sports or video games and showed no desire to “climb higher” in life.

Won Switch 2 from lucky bag purchase

The wife further revealed that in April, her husband used RM623 (NT$5,000) from his monthly allowance of RM1,245 (NT$10,000) to buy a lucky bag.

To his surprise, he actually won a Nintendo Switch 2.

She said her husband became extremely excited and spent almost every night playing the console, which left her feeling frustrated and helpless.

However, after the post went viral, many netizens criticized the wife instead, saying the husband had done nothing wrong.

Husband says wife gave away his Switch 2

On May 10, the husband responded with his own post and revealed that he had already signed the divorce papers and was waiting for the process to be finalised.

He said the “final straw” came when his ex-wife secretly gave away his Switch 2 and the items from the lucky bag because she believed a 37-year-old man should not still be staying up late playing video games.

She thought my annual income of RM249,000 could never compare to those rich tech elites,” he wrote.

The man explained that his daily life revolved around work, meetings, handling sales targets, taking care of employees, and supporting the family.

He described himself as “living like a machine”, adding that the only moments he truly felt alive were the few quiet hours late at night when everyone was asleep and he could sit alone in the living room playing Pokémon.

“I finally wanted to buy happiness for myself”

The husband also claimed he had fulfilled every promise he made to his wife throughout the marriage.

According to him, the house and car were registered under her name, his salary was handed over to her every month, and he only kept RM1,245 (NT$10,000) as personal allowance.

Out of that allowance, he intentionally saved RM623 (NT$5,000) for himself for the first time.

The first time I wanted to buy a little happiness for myself,” he said.

He added that what truly made him happy was not the Switch 2 itself, but the fact that he had finally chosen to treat himself kindly for once.

Wife more upset about asking back the Switch 2

The man said he was willing to leave the marriage with nothing, including the house, car, and savings, as long as his ex-wife returned the Switch 2 and lucky bag items.

However, he claimed his ex-wife became upset because she felt embarrassed to ask back the items she had already given away.

According to him, her reaction made him realise that filing for divorce was “probably the bravest and best decision” he had ever made in his life.
