While finding a parking spot at crowded places is no doubt a challenging task, it doesn’t mean that we have the right to park recklessly and pose an inconvenience to others.
The owner of a sports utility vehicle (SUV) has recently come under fire after a clip showing it being parked illegally at Petaling Street, leading to a massive traffic jam and a RapidKL bus having to narrowly squeeze its way through a tiny gap.
SUV parks illegally at Petaling Street intersection
In a 46-second video shared on Xiaohongshu (XHS), it begins by showing a white SUV being parked right within an intersection at Petaling Street, where its front wheels were touching the lines of a yellow box underneath it.
As a result of the SUV owner’s selfishness, it caused a huge traffic jam to follow as a RapidKL bus struggled to drive past it without inflicting damaged to the SUV.
Thankfully, several bystanders came to the RapidKL bus’ rescue by directing the driver on how to maneuver his way out from the bottleneck.
When the RapidKL bus managed to squeeze its way through, it elicited loud cheers and claps from diners who were having their meal at a roadside stall.
All throughout the clip, the owner of the SUV didn’t appear to move the vehicle or apologise for causing such a huge inconvenience to other road users.
Netizens condemn SUV owner
In the comment section, netizens were infuriated by the SUV owner’s inconsiderate behaviour and called him out on it.
One speculated that the SUV owner had probably ‘hidden’ himself among the cheering crowd as he feared moving the vehicle away at that moment would subject him to being cursed out in public.
Another noted that despite the unpleasant situation, it was a heartwarming sight to see Malaysians coming together to help those in need.
