M’sian Police Discover Suitcase Containing RM500K At Parking Lot In PJ

The suitcase had piles of RM50 and RM100.
Losing your belongings is a major hassle and can be a very stressful encounter as you will have to go through endless trouble to retrieve it, especially if it contains valuable items.

Malaysian police at Petaling Jaya were astonished to find a suitcase which was jam-packed with Ringgit notes left abandoned at a parking lot and are now looking for its rightful owner.

In a press conference held today, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said police received a call from a local security guard at around 8am yesterday (Mar 20).

“The guard, who’s in his 30s, was making his rounds at the parking lot located at the fourth floor of a shopping mall when he stumbled upon a suitcase.

“When he opened it up, he saw that it was brimming with money and immediately contacted the police,” he said as quoted by Sin Chew Daily.

Hussien added that police calculated that the amount of money inside the suitcase, which was unlocked, was close to RM500,000, all of which consisted of RM50 and RM100 notes.

Owner urged to step forward

Hussien said the shopping mall only had CCTVs placed at the entrance and exit of the premise. As such, police are unable to identify the person who left the suitcase at the parking lot.

When asked whether the notes could be fake, Hussien said most likely it was real notes but added that its authenticity will be verified by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM).

He also urged the owner to come retrieve the suitcase along with proof of ownership at the Petaling Jaya police district.
