Starbucks Malaysia has unveiled a new campaign titled ‘Starbucks Brewing Art for Good: The Bearista Project,’ in collaboration with talented Malaysian artists, including those who are Deaf and Autistic, as well as creative art students.
This initiative marks the celebration of Starbucks’ 25th anniversary in Malaysia, highlighting the brand’s journey and the vibrant culture of Malaysia’s diverse states.
As part of the celebration, Starbucks has introduced 25 unique Bearista designs. Each design is a reflection of Malaysia’s rich cultural tapestry and symbolises the growth and presence of Starbucks across the country.
These designs are manifested in life-sized Bearista sculptures, which were first revealed at a launch event held last Saturday, June 22, at Pavilion Damansara Heights, the official venue sponsor.
“We are truly honored to work with these incredible artists. We hope this platform brings their masterpiece the global recognition it truly deserves,” said Dato’ Sydney Quays, Group CEO of Berjaya Food Berhad and Managing Director of Berjaya Starbucks.
The event showcased 12 of these intricately hand-painted sculptures, with more designs set to be revealed by December 2024. The life-sized Bearista sculptures will be displayed at selected Starbucks stores nationwide, providing customers with a unique visual experience.
In addition to the life-sized sculptures, Starbucks has also launched a limited-edition series of mini-Bearista collectibles.
These miniatures are available as ‘blind box’ collectibles in all Starbucks stores for RM25 each, adding an element of surprise and delight for customers.
Dato’ Sydney Quays, Group CEO of Berjaya Food Berhad and Managing Director of Berjaya Starbucks, emphasised the philanthropic aspect of the project.
“We are deeply saddened by the ongoing atrocities in Gaza and hope this contribution aids innocent lives there,” he said.
Dato’ Sydney also announced that part of the proceeds from the mini-Bearista sales will be given back to the artists and also donated to a Gaza humanitarian fund championed by MERCY Malaysia.
