For one Singaporean woman, a dream jackpot win at a Genting casino quickly became a logistical nightmare.
28-year-old Sherylynn Kok reportedly won a whopping RM800,000 during a weekend getaway, but securing the prize and bringing it home safely quickly turned into a stressful mission.

From jackpot joy to luggage guard
After a brief losing streak, Kok switched to a random slot machine. Within five minutes, she hit the grand prize of a whopping RM800,000.
According to the The Straits Times, her win was later confirmed and she was handed eight bundles of RM100,000 notes. The sheer weight of the cash filled a backpack that was “crazy heavy.”
Unsure of how to handle such a massive sum, she requested security to escort her back to her hotel room.
However, the casino staff gave a stark warning: while they could protect her on the casino floor, they couldn’t guarantee her safety once she stepped outside.

That night, the family took turns guarding the backpack, a far cry from a relaxing weekend at a resort.
The unspoken rules of carrying cash
The problems didn’t end there. Since her win was on a Friday, all the banks were closed for the weekend, preventing her from remitting the money back to Singapore.
Kok also discovered she needed a Malaysian bank account for the transfer, which she didn’t have.
The real shock came at the airport, where Kok found out that carrying such a large amount of cash out of Malaysia required special approval from the country’s national bank.
Her parents flew back to Singapore, while she and her boyfriend stayed behind to solve the puzzle.
The next day, she finally managed to open a Malaysian bank account, which allowed for dual-currency access and a safe way to handle the funds.
For now, Kok is taking her time to decide what to do with the life-changing sum, with friends offering advice ranging from investing it to going on a holiday.
